You've Got Questions...We've Got Answers!
We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers for students attending Orientation for the fall 2024 term. Email us at orientation@uwrf.edu if you need additional assistance. We can't wait to see you!
(Oh, and some key cheat codes to make things easier to understand: RA stands for Resident Assistant and OL stands for Orientation Leader!)
Schedules will be sent to your UWRF email beginning Aug. 28. You'll also receive reminder emails each day with the next day's schedule. Don't hesitate to ask your OL if you have questions and if you're living on campus, you can also check with your RA.
Schedules will vary by student, so if your schedule looks different than a friend’s, that's okay! Your schedule is unique to your Orientation Team.
Visit the Week of Welcome webpage to view the entire schedule. You can also download the Corq app to view the calendar of activities or follow @uwrforientation on Instagram!
Your schedule can't be changed as it's tailored to you! Your individual schedule will be emailed to you and it's important that you stick to your schedule!
You'll be teamed up with approximately 30 other Falcons (fellow commuters or residents from your Residence Hall, depending on your living situation). You'll have an OL with you during Orientation sessions and activities. This will be a great way to meet your peers!
We're here to help so don't hesitate to ask! You have a few options, should the need arise to ask questions during Orientation:
- Stop by the Orientation Headquarters in the University Center (next to the Falcon Shop). We'll be there each day of Orientation (Thursday, Aug. 29-Monday, Sept. 2) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- You can message/email your OL or RA (they'll share their preferred contact information with you).
- Text the Orientation Team at 715-651-6141.
Bring the backpack, pen and Orientation workbook that you receive during Nesting Day on Friday, Aug. 30. You'll need to make sure you have your student ID and room key (if applicable) and we suggest bringing a water bottle!
Your meal plan is active beginning on Move In Day (Thursday, Aug. 29). During Orientation, breakfast and dinner are on your own time. Lunch is scheduled during Orientation activities so you'll be eating lunch with your Orientation group.
If you're a commuter, lunch is included for you in Riverside Commons during Orientation - even if you don't have a meal plan!
To view Dining hours and options, visit our When and Where to Eat webpage or download the Dine on Campus app.
Orientation is a key part of your transition to campus and it is expected that all incoming students (first year and transfer) attend. If you have extenuating circumstances, please email orientation@uwrf.edu.
While families and supporters don't have any formal Orientation sessions, they're highly encouraged to join us for Family Fest on Move In Day, Thursday, Aug. 29! Family Fest is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. at the University Center and families and supporters will also be able to join their student for a free meal in Riverside Commons during the day (open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.)
If a family member or supporter has specific questions, most of our campus offices will have normal business hours on Move In Day and will be happy to answer questions if you drop in!
There will be lots of people to help during Move In! Feel free to stop anyone wearing a nametag or a UWRF Falcon Move Crew shirt if you have a question or need assistance. Orientation Headquarters will be open in the University Center.
Keep an eye on your UWRF email because your Orientation schedule will share details on where you should meet your OL each day.
If you purchased a parking permit, you'll be eligible to park in Pay Lot 3 (by the Falcon Center) per your parking permit. If you didn't purchase a parking permit, you'll want to plan time to find a parking spot on the street or in one of the pay lots on campus. Be sure to read signs carefully so you know where you can and cannot park - you're responsible for obeying all parking regulations!
